Qualifications
- Proven experience in CMM programming and operation in a manufacturing or quality control environment
- Proficiency in CMM software (e.g., Calypso) for programming measurement routines and analyzing measurement data
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, CAD models, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and metrology principles
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex measurement data and identify discrepancies or non-conformities
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in all aspects of work

Responsibilities
- The Zeiss CMM Programmer and Operator play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of manufactured components by programming, operating, and maintaining Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
- In addition to operating CMM this position is critical to review launch of new programs and to assist with the ISO implementation
CMM Programming:
- Develop and optimize measurement programs for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) using Zeiss Calypso software
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) requirements to create measurement routines that accurately capture dimensional data
- Utilize advanced features and capabilities of CMM software to automate measurement processes, improve efficiency, and minimize programming time
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to understand component requirements, inspection criteria, and any special measurement considerations
CMM Operation:
- Set up and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to perform accurate dimensional inspections on manufactured components
- Load components onto the CMM, select appropriate measuring probes and fixtures, and execute programmed measurement routines
- Conduct first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections to verify conformance to quality standards and customer requirements
- Monitor CMM equipment during operation, troubleshoot any issues that arise, and perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and accuracy
Quality Assurance:
- Generate comprehensive inspection reports documenting measurement results, deviations from specifications, and any non-conformities found during inspections
- Analyze measurement data and collaborate with quality engineers and production teams to identify root causes of non-conformities and implement corrective actions
- Adhere to established quality procedures, industry standards, and regulatory requirements to maintain consistency and reliability in inspection processes
- This position will allow you to plan your own work and offers opportunities to grow within the quality role
The Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various machine tools to produce precision parts and components according to engineering specifications. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with a variety of materials while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Setup and Operation:
- Set up and adjust machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.) following engineering blueprints, work orders, and verbal instructions.
- Operate machines to produce parts with precise measurements and specifications.
- Monitor machine operations and adjust settings as needed to ensure quality and efficiency.
Tooling and Workpiece Preparation:
- Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for machining processes.
- Load and secure workpieces onto machines, making sure they are properly aligned and secured.
- Calculate and verify dimensions and tolerances using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
Quality Assurance:
- Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards.
- Make necessary adjustments to machine settings to maintain product quality.
- Document and report any deviations or issues to supervisors and quality control teams.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot machine malfunctions, making necessary repairs or adjustments.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to address complex technical issues.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow established safety protocols and guidelines when operating machines and handling materials.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulations related to workplace safety and equipment usage.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and suggest modifications to increase efficiency and quality.
- Participate in cross-functional teams focused on enhancing manufacturing processes.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with fellow machinists, supervisors, engineers, and other team members to achieve production goals.
- Communicate effectively to ensure smooth workflow and coordination.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in machining preferred.
- Proven experience as a machinist or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Strong knowledge of machining techniques, tools, and materials.
- Ability to operate various machine tools, such as lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machines.
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments and gauges.
- Basic understanding of CAD/CAM software and computer numerically controlled (CNC) systems.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting.
- Strong safety consciousness and adherence to safety protocols.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials and equipment.
